My journey at Breakthrough began a little over three years ago, after I saw the success my wife Karen had with Bootcamp.
I had my initial assessment with Chris.
I was embarrassed that the ex-high school football All-American could barely make it through a 10 min. physical assessment.
I couldn’t even do a push-up.
My weight, percentage of body fat, and overall fitness had plummeted to a place where I knew I didn’t want to be.
I made a choice that day to join Breakthrough and began what has turned out to be a lifelong journey.
My work schedule at the time wouldn’t allow me to work out on a regular schedule, but I did my best to make it to the gym at least three times a week, and get my cardio in when I could.
My initial success was incredible: in just a few short months I lost a tremendous amount of body fat, improved my overall health, and gained confidence in myself again.
I was back to a place where I was confident.
All of this happened because I stopped making excuses to not work out, and making my fitness a priority.
For the next two years or so, I was able to maintain what I had achieved, and even started getting out of bed at 5 am to attend the 6 am class, but I wasn’t able to lose any more body fat.
I finally came to the realization that I was trying to out work a bad diet.
My strength improved but my body stayed the same.
Initially, I was fine with that.
Strength is what I wanted.
However, as I look in the mirror, I was realizing that I wasn’t happy with what I saw, even though I was very happy with what I felt.
I felt (and still feel) like I am as strong as I have ever been in my life – and it feels GREAT! But I know I can lose more body fat and achieve the body I want.
I’ve lost over 50 pounds now, and I WILL clean the 106 pound Bulldog kettlebell!
As I wrap up this 24 Day Challenge, I know I can continue to move towards achieving my best body.
Thanks to Chris and Karen at Breakthrough, and (especially) thanks to my family.
I feel as though I have all the tools and support I need to continue on my journey to achieving my best body and meeting the goals I have set for myself.
Today, I can honestly say that I am “Living greatly”!
