My very good friend Sheila Sharp introduced me to a fitness regiment I had never seen or heard of which was kettlebell training.
She invited me to try out a 30 minute boot camp session.
I thought to myself it shouldn’t be too hard because I had been working out on and off for the past few years.
I was doing well for the first 15 minutes of the training at least that’s what I thought; then it really hit me hard.
I was nauseated and wanted to upchuck.
Felt like I had no more energy to continue.
Chris asked me “Did you eat breakfast?”, I said “No”.
I was use to doing my cardio on an empty stomach and thought I would be able to do the same for the boot camp class.
I was sooooooooooooo wrong.
Chris offered me a few crackers and juice then I was able to complete the rest of the 30 minute boot camp workout.
From that initial boot camp was the beginning of my transformation.
Most of my life I was viewed as skinny and people thought that by my appearance I was healthy.
Little did they know, I was the “Skinny Fat”.
Most of my workouts only encompassed cardio.
I hardly ever did any type of strength training.
After my 1 trial boot camp session I wanted to immediately sign up.
I completed the 5 week boot camp session and was then offered a Breakthrough membership.
I’ve been hooked to the kettlebell training since my first encounter in 2010.
Due to the consistent training my body began to transform. I went from a size 12 to a size 8 within 3 months.
By the end of the summer of 2010 I was a size 6.
I have maintained my current size 6 for the past 3 ½ years.
The training also helped me to consistently score “Excellent” on my Air Force fitness test.
During my tenure at Breakthrough I’ve had some challenges from injuries (shoulder, knee, tennis elbow) to food allergy (milk, nuts, shellfish) issues.
Chris continued to provide me guidance through each of my challenges.
I’ve been able to successfully overcome the injury issues and adapted an eating style to assist with my food allergies.
Being healthy is a LIFESTYLE!
With continued guidance and support from the Breakthrough team on exercise and nutrition I’m in the best physical shape of my life. I’m a lifelong Breakthrough member.
